The first ever 3 City Challenge will take place on Saturday 28th August at 5pm in aid of the British Deaf Association. The route is 82 miles long, starting at the Clock Tower, Leicester and finishing at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester. The route loops from Leicester to Birmingham to Coventry and back to Leicester.

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions has authorised an independent review of the Work Capability Assessment (WCA). This is an important part of the Employment and Support Allowance claim process, designed to determine which claimants are capable of undertaking work, or work-related activity.

The British Deaf Association (BDA) and Coventry Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), funded by Santander, are joining forces to improve access to advice for deaf people in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The 21st International Congress on Education of the Deaf (ICED) was held on July 19th in Vancouver, Canada. At the opening ceremony a clear statement of principle was made in which ICED expressed regret about the outcomes of the infamous 2nd congress held in Milan in 1880.

Try your hand at a new language in national campaign to learn British Sign Language. This year’s Learn to Sign Week campaign, run by the British Deaf Association (BDA), takes place 4th – 10th October 2010 and is hoping to encourage even more school children to learn British Sign Language (BSL), thanks to the development of an exclusive DVD.
