British Deaf Association

BSL Day

18th March 2012

BSL Day is the BDA’s new national campaign, and celebrates the anniversary of BSL, which was recognised by the UK government on 18th March 2003.

We want you, the members, to join us in celebrating our beautiful language, participate in our fundraising activities to support the BDA in achieving its two main campaign aims:

- to promote a bi-lingual and bi-cultural education for Deaf children
- to gain legal status for British Sign Language as an indigenous minority language in the UK

There will be a number of activities taking place, including organised Firewalks at 2 locations throughout the UK – are you up for the challenge? Want to overcome your fears and walk barefoot across burning hot embers, while raising money for the BDA?!

There’s also a signathon organised and a new DVD resource is available for schools, youth clubs and community groups.

Get involved, get a group together and have fun, while celebrating BSL Day and raising money for the BDA.
