Heroes of Community Sport to be recognised at the PRO-ACTIVE London Awards

Nominations are now being taken for the PRO-ACTIVE London Awards for Sport & Physical Activity.
The awards provide an opportunity for local people from each of London's 33 boroughs to acknowledge and say "thank you" to the heroes of community sport.
Whether it is a volunteer turning up week in week out to provide coaching opportunities for young people at their local sports club, a coach who provides opportunities in the local community or a sports club or organisation as a whole, the awards recognise and reward people's commitment to sport and physical activity over the last year. These awards are the only awards that celebrate community sport on a London scale.
The inaugural 2007 PRO-ACTIVE London awards held at Chelsea Football club were a great success. Honoured guests included former 3 weight world boxing champion Duke McKenzie and former Olympian and Commonwealth Gold Medalist Shot Putter Judy Oakes OBE.
Supporting the PRO-ACTIVE London awards, Sean Holt, Director of Sport England London Region has said: "The Awards are a fantastic opportunity for us to thank and recognise the many people who give their time for sport at all levels. Sports volunteers, coaches and supporting organisations are the unsung heroes that really make it."
Stewart Lucas Chief Executive of London Sports Forum for Disabled People said, "The PRO-ACTIVE London awards are a great way to celebrate the hard work, dedication and success of both the people who participate in, and the people who support sport and physical activity in the capital. London Sports Forum for Disabled People are proud to support the fully inclusive PRO-ACTIVE London awards".
