On Saturday 28th January 2017 at the BDA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in York, the British Deaf Association (BDA) and Visual Language Professionals (VLP) signed a letter of intent to work together to:

  1. Improve access for all Deaf people to information by supporting the use of qualified BSL/English interpreters;

  2. Encourage qualified BSL/English interpreters to seek on-going training to improve or maintain skills; and

  3. Agree the minimum qualification standards for BSL/English interpreters who should be registered with one of the national registration bodies.
